EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-CENT BLUE ON ORIENTAL BUFF WITH WATERMARK 8. ONLY ONE ENTIRE AND THIS FULL CORNER ARE REPORTED.
The 2012 UPSS catalogue states one mint entire and this "very large" full corner are known for No. 892. For the other watermark type (UPSS 891, watermark 12), there are three or fewer entires reported and approximately ten cut squares or full corners. The two separate impressions of Die 83 on Oriental Buff offered in our Sale 1037 were on watermark 12 paper and would therefore be UPSS 891.
With 2000 P.F. certificate not specifying the UPSS No. Scott Retail for U298 does not distinguish between the two watermark types -- this type is significantly rarer than the other (Image)
VERY FINE. A RARE FULL CORNER OF THE ONE-CENT BLUE ON BLUE ISSUE, SCOTT 299.
The 2012 UPSS catalogue reports five or fewer entires exist, though this is significantly higher than all reported numbers we have heard before. In addition, Porter Venn records two full corners, two cut squares and an entire with "Specimen".
Ex Cole and Dr. Summers. With 2000 P.F. certificate not noting the trivial paper breakage from the die impression (Image)
VERY FINE AND CHOICE EXAMPLE OF THE DIE 87 2-CENT GREEN ON BLUE ISSUE. THIS IS NOT KNOWN AS AN UNUSED ENTIRE. A GREAT RARITY OF POSTAL STATIONERY COLLECTING.
The 2012 UPSS catalogue reports no unused entires and two used entires. Porter Venn also records this and one other unused cut square, as well as two used cut squares.
Ex Floyd and Saddleback. With 2007 P.F. certificate. Unpriced in UPSS as unused. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE AND RARE. ONLY FOUR UNUSED ENTIRES AND THIS UNUSED FULL CORNER ARE RECORDED.
The 2012 UPSS catalogue records two mint entires, two unused pre-addressed entires and three used entires. While one of the unused entires could obviously be cut down to a full corner, this is currently the only full corner of which we are aware.
Ex Dr. Summers. With 1986 and 2000 P.F. certificates (Image)
VERY FINE. AN EXTREMELY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 2-CENT PLIMPTON ON AMBER MANILA PAPER. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED FULL CORNER.
The 2012 UPSS catalogue records only one mint and one used entire. This is believed to be the only unused full corner known. There are also perhaps four or five used cut squares known.
Ex Meisel. With 2006 P.F. certificate (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE. A FRESH AND RARE FULL CORNER OF THE 1899 ISSUE 4-CENT BROWN ON WHITE.
Apart from the approximately five entires estimate to exist (split between UPSS Nos. 1353 and 1354), there are perhaps half a dozen cut squares, with this believed to be the only full corner among them.
Ex Sinkler and Ballman. With 1986 and 2002 P.F. certificates (Image)
