35 501 image1918 letter: 1917, 3¢ light violet, type I, tied by SAINT LOUIS MAY 4 1918 duplex on envelope bearing violet MISSENT TO JOHNSTON BRANCH JACKSONVILLE FLA thence continuing on to NASSAU BAHAMAS, receiver on reverse where we assume the Bahama's Special Delivery and cancellation were applied. This is very similar to the earlier envelopes from Canada that were pre-applied with the Bahamas Special Delivery, this the scarcer Type I. This supposedly was for use by the Canadian Expeditionary Force, but the routing remains a mystery to us (Scott 501).
