2174   imageThe Falmouth Stamp & Coin Shop's Massive Hoard of First Day and Modern Event Covers with lots of Gold Foil, our skilled describing team estimates that this lot contains upwards of 10,000 first day covers including about 1,000 gold foil cacheted (also includes a couple albums of gold foil stamps), and there could be more than 10,000 (us lowly describers will get unceremoniously fired if we count them), mostly 1960's-80's but a handful of earlier including eight 3c Baseball (Scott No. 855) with 7 different cachets including Holland, Grandy (2 different color schemes), Planty #93 in red and black, first Leatherstocking (2), Clifford, and one legal sized by Chalres A. Richardson with advertisement on both sides "Richardson Baseball Shoe Cleats", lot also includes a few full sheets on oversized FDCs including 14 priority mail envelopes with 12 different indicia, and some more interesting cachets than the usual cachets, plus there are a few thousand modern event commemorative covers from the mid 1970's to the 1990's including Bicentennial, Norman Rockwell, US Presidents, etc., an outstanding collection of the 1947 U.S.S. Frigate Constitution issue in 15 cover albums and a stuffed shoebox (with duplicates), a collection of maximum cards in albums, and a large quantity of souvenir pages, this is a very clean and well organized lot, overall Very Fine, Falmouth Stamp & Coin has been in business for over 40 years. Throughout that time, the shop purchased many stamp collections. These are the ones that were put away and never offered to the public.
