General Collections
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
829   imageWorldwide, Formidable Scott Blue International Collection, 1840's-1973, with the main collection in 13 albums, each stamp carefully hinged to page, plus duplicates in an additional album plus two stock books. The main collection containing 128,000+ different stamps and includes inventory list available on our website. Far better overall collection than typically encountered. Overall, a very decent level of completion and a very diverse range of country collecting focus, so you will see nice sections of early PRC or Japan along with decent sections of Africa as well as Eastern Europe. Each page has the stamps carefully counted and cataloged, but unfortunately, we did not see a master inventory list to give you the grand totals. Each page seems to have Scott values of between around $10-$100 with several pages much higher. A real powerhouse of the collection is on the U.S. pages with the following better used: 1-2, 9, 68-69, 72, 76-78b 112-18, 208, 149, 153, 160, 190, 217, 229, 239, 240 no gum, 291, 311, 658-79 mint, C1-6, C18 mint and Q1-12. It doesn't take much imagination to see this collection getting well into the six figures quite easily. A great collection to expand upon or to break down into smaller country collections, generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 140 lbs.

830   imageWorldwide, "High Volume" Massive Mint & Used Collection in Minkus Globals, 1844-2008, Here's an easy way to assess an international stamp album collection before even opening a volume. If they look worn and fanned out, or better yet, a broken spine held together by duct tape, you know they will be packed with stamps. This set has many of these characteristics, but it's not just the quantity but also the quality. 29 volumes of the Minkus Globals with a mix of mint & used both hinged and in mounts, there are no glaring weaknesses, as the entire world is well covered. Way better classics on average and modern mint runs on many countries. In short, it's not often we see collections such as this with such a high level of comprehensiveness. If you're still not convinced, just have a look at some of the scans and video flips online, overall Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 300 lbs. 832   imageWorldwide, 39 Scott Internationals Bursting at the Seams, 1840-1990s, A span of over 150 years, from a couple of Penny Blacks to modern mint souvenir sheets, this set is massive, and not only are the pages of every volume loaded with mint & used stamps both hinged and in mounts, lots of complete booklets, stamps on counter pages and in glassines, and the occasional cover or souvenir folder tucked in between making each volume an oversized monster. 839   imageWorldwide, "The Globetrotter" Very Large Multi-Volume Mint & Used Collection, 1840-1948, Fourteen binders with 1000's upon 1000's of stamps on approval pages, but with way-above-average material. Upon closer examination, this is actually a homemade collection. There is no apparent duplication, each space identified by catalog number and in numerical order, and each binder indexed by country. Except for the United States, virtually every country is here, and in addition, three collections each in a Scott album, the strongest being Scandinavia with mint & used for all five countries up to 1946. Also, no-nonsense collections of Germany & States (1849-1947) along with occupied areas and a mostly used collection of Russia (1858-1948) with the Soviet Republics. Gargantuan catalog value; owner states it is probably well over $150,000 and from the looks of it, I would concur. Some mixed condition to be found, but overall Fine to Very Fine, many scans & video flips accessible online. Shipping charges apply - weight 100 lbs. 848   imageWorldwide, Alpha and Omega Collection, 1840 to 1970s, mint and used and housed in 30 bulging and loaded Scott International Albums, some so heavy they are hard to manage, containing stamps from every corner of the globe and offered intact at the owners instruction, formed by a working laborer who collected passionately for six decades, so many stamps it would be daunting to estimate, He, like most of our elder clients, loved all the Blue Chip Countries; Great Britain; Canada; Austria; Belgium; France; Germany; Luxembourg; Netherlands; Switzerland and a host of others too lengthy to list, condition seemed clean overall, an impressive start to collecting the World or an excellent unit to be broken apart and sold for a tidy profit, the collector neatly arranged the pages in each volume so that the best items were in the front as presented alphabetically by voume, the owners inventory last done in 2007 exceeded $175,000 Scott Catalog Value, trust your gut on this one, generally Fine to Very Fine or better. 868   imageWorldwide, "Hit the Books" Mint & Used Collections in Large Army of Albums, 1850-1980s, A total of 165 albums and in case you think that might be a mistype, let me spell it out… One hundred and sixty-five albums of varying sizes, many larger than a phone book, and names we all should be familiar with, like American-made Scott, Harris, Minkus, and White Ace, the best of Europe, from Lighthouse, Lindner, and Ka-be to Davo, Gibbons, and Yvert & Tellier, and even some of the more obscure, such as Lincoln from the UK and Peltonen of Finland. Many are still in decent shape, a few even like new, but some have seen better days and are clinging to the hope that a collector somewhere will snatch them up and avert the horrible fate of being at the bottom of a landfill! There are themed albums, such as one on Space & Rockets, F.D.R. & J.F.K. Memorial albums, and the American Revolution Bicentennial, and a few albums which are country-specific, such as Austria, Bermuda, Canada, Ghana, Netherlands, Switzerland and others. And obviously, some albums are better filled than others, but no matter how you slice it, there's a ton of stamps in this lot, and the person who makes the effort to view it on site will be the one taking it home. Just make sure you've cleared off some shelf space! generally Fine to Very Fine. Shipping charges apply - weight 1100 lbs. (Image)
