2381 c image1977 (June 6) British Forces in Australia airmail to Cardiff (Wales) with 'Naval Postage/Concession Rate' handstamp at top and scarce franking of Gemstones 6c tied by 'WATSON'S BAY/NSW-AUST' cds, a couple of minor blemishes. The ACSC states that this stamp was issued for "make-up use" and does not price solo frankings. The concessional rate for British Forces to send airmail 'home' was 6c per 20g, substantially cheaper than the then-current 45c per 10g civilian airmail rate; this concession remained in place until 1979.
