 1901-10 'POSTAGE' V/Crown (W85) Watermark £2 blue Perf 11 ACSC V136 (SG 408), untidy 'JAMIESON/VICTORIA' cds largely clear of the
King's face, Cat $2750 (£1400). An extremely rare stamp postally used. The ACSC indicates that about 12 used examples have been recorded: we doubt if the real figure is half that number. It also states "... found from Foster, Jamieson & Omeo" and
draws the conclusion that "a few sheets" were printed. The logic is flawed: none of these small post offices would have been supplied with large numbers of the high values. However, the towns are all in Gippsland, suggesting that at least part of one
sheet was allocated between them. [From another vendor]

sheet with Mixed Double Perforations at Right creating an Irregular Compound Perf 11x12½x11x11 ACSC V26 (SG 446), the left-hand unit with an official repair strip at left and cut from the sheet to preserve the design, small hinge remainder in the
margin only, the stamps unmounted, Cat $500+ (£30+) for mounted.
Gibbons does not differentiate between Compound Perfs and the much scarcer Mixed Perfs. The original Perf 11 row at right was misplaced and was corrected with a Perf 12½ row immediately to the left. The ACSC states that "The variety is recorded from
a perf 11 sheet showing a paste-up repair" and illustrates a block of 6 ex Les Molnar and Gary Diffen (sold for £240). This pair is apparently from the top of the same sheet. There may be a second sheet known: see the next lot.
