Die II, ½ a. blue, two blocks of four, making up a vertical block of 8, ample to mostly large margins and fresh color, showing large part of central watermark (sideways), neatly cancelled by new type Bombay circle numeral "244”. Very fine and scarce (watermark on reverse highlighted in pencil)

Die II, ½ a. blau, zwei Viererblocks, die einen senkrechten 8er-Block bilden, reichlich bis meist breitrandig und farbfrisch, mit großem Teil des zentralen Wasserzeichens (seitlich), sauber entwertet durch neuen Type Bombay Kreis Ziffer "244". Sehr tadellos und selten (Wasserzeichen rückseitig mit Bleistift hervorgehoben)

An unusual case of the double inland rate of 2 annas being paid by stamps (from October 1854 to January 1856, mail via the Southampton route could be prepaid or sent bearing), fine and rare cover

1854, 1 a. rot, Die II, zwei Einzelbriefe mit knappem bis gutem Rand und farbfrischen Farben, sauber entwertet durch punktierte Raute mit danebenliegendem Rahmen "INDIA" auf Briefumschlag nach Lancashire, England, gebilligt "Via Southampton" und "Paid", vorderseitig 1 s. vermerkt zur Abholung durch den Empfänger, rückseitig gebilligtes Datum 1855. Ein ungewöhnlicher Fall, in dem der doppelte Inlandstarif von 2 Annas mit Briefmarken bezahlt wurde (von Oktober 1854 bis Januar 1856 konnte die Post über Southampton im Voraus bezahlt oder mit Briefmarken verschickt werden), tadelloser und seltener Brief
