1051 ogu 17 Image#17, 12c Black, a spectacular mint left sheet-margin single of one of the rarest and most difficult of all 19th century stamps to locate in premium quality, with this particular example being the most eye-arresting mint single of a #17 we have ever seen, boasting an enormous sheet margin at left measuring a full 20mm (sheet margins on mint singles are especially rare), all other margins are large to huge as well, with a significant portion of the adjoining stamp at right showing, even this stamp's color and impression are virtually prooflike which is a most uncommon occurrence, nicely contrasted by its bright white paper which is most impressive for a stamp of this vintage, still retaining its original gum which has been a bit disturbed, tiny scissor cut in huge margin at bottom right well away from any part of the design, extremely fine; a visually stunning mint classic; clear 1993 PSE certificate, clear 1997 PF certificate and a 2009 PSE certificate (XF 90 Jumbo DOG; SMQ for OGph $11,800.00 for 90 and $20,600.00 for 95); ex-"Chappaqua", Whitman.
