20315 O,,OMProofForgeryETE-SN 36-37, 40, 43-45 imageMexico District group of seven covers, of which five bearing the 1r green or 2r rose reprints and reminders, and two with 1r blue+2r green & 2r green single, both on thin paper), as well as four well margined single stamps off cover, including two 4r rose on thin paper (Scott #45) and two 8r on thick paper reminders. The 1r green and 2r rose covers were sent to Cuernavaca, Pachuca, Morelia and Guanajuato, showing the unusual discounted rate to the first two cities. The thin paper covers (Scott #43, #44) are scarcer: one was addressed to Querétaro (1r, 2r) dated December 31, 1867 with 1987 Mepsi certificate (ex Rosenthal); the 2r green single cover, dated 1868, is addressed to Guadalajara. 20321 O 632a image"EL ABRAZO DE ACATEMPAN" THE RAREST STAMP OF MEXICAN PHILATELY A GREAT GEM OF THE INVERTED CENTERS OF THE WORLD 1921 10c blue and brown, "El Abrazo de Acatempan" with inverted center, delicately used with a faint strike of Mexico City cds ("bridge type") with indistinct date, leaving the design so clear, slightly centered to right. Trivial paper disturbance confined to the margin at lower right, mentioned for the sake of accuracy. Cert. P.F. (1995), backstamped by John K. Bash. Undoubtedly considered as the most important stamp of Mexican philately, with only two examples recorded, this being the finer. The other example known possesses a duplex cancellation which is believed to have been applied in Guadalajara, and which was struck covering a large place of the center inverted. Illustrated in the "Encyclopedia of Rare and Famous Stamps" by L. N. Williams (published by David Feldman, Geneva, in 1993), as the only stamp representing Mexico in this highly renownedencyclopaedia . A true world rarity. Provenance (according to the research by L.N. Williams): Mr. Roterberg (Mexican specialist of Chicago) Alfred E. Fritz Otto C. Yag Eric Koenig Note on the issue: This stamp was issued to celebrate the centenary of the War of Independence. The stamp displays the characters of... According to Eladio Garcia Prada the design was by Alfredo Barron and the engraving by Emiliano Valades. Legend is than one of the two known copies was found in New York by a young collector inside a mixture of used stamps. ...(Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)

20326 ,,,, 706a imageTHE PRO-UNIVERSITY 10 PESOS WITHOUT WATERMARK IN BLOCK OF FOUR 1934 10p brown and violet, without watermark, a magnificent block of four, lightly hinged at top, outstandingly well centered and remarkably fresh. A very rare and desirable multiple of this rarity. A great rarity of Mexican modern philately (no multiples of this stamp were gathered in the Eric Koenig collection). As this is the first time that we see a block of four of this stamp, we have checked with an expert of Mepsi about the rarity of this item, and we have been informed that this is the first example of this multiple seen by him. Scott $13,000 as singles hinged (two stamps are n.h. in this example). Sold for $27,000 hammer price in December 2003 (Cherrystone, New York, lot #2380). Cert. Mepsi (2023).(Image 1) (Image 2)
