"Le Havre / Seine Inferieure" transit cds (Aug 26) and London arrival adjacent (Aug 27). Struck in London with circular Eastern District Inspector's marking, perhaps testifying to the scarcity of early Haitian first issue covers coming in to London. One of two known covers from Gonaives to this addressee (the other bears a pair of 5 cent), this being the sole recorded example of this particular franking. The 5 c. pair has been torn from the cover, and later carefully replaced.
