"X", few thin spots and pinholes VERY FINE APPEARANCE. ONE OF ONLY THREE RECORDED EXAMPLES OF THE BATON ROUGE 2-CENT "McCCRMICK" ERROR. A MAJOR PHILATELIC RARITY OF CONFEDERATE POSTMASTERS' PROVISIONALS. Our records contain three examples of the 2c "McCcrmick" error: 1) unused, ex Worthington, Green, 2001 Rarities sale (realized $12,500 hammer), 2) ms. AN EXTREMELY RARE USE OF THE 5-CENT CRISS-CROSS BORDER, WHICH WE BELIEVE TO BE A SECOND PRINTING CIRCA NOVEMBER 1861. CROWN RECORDS ONLY ELEVEN COVERS (ALL SINGLE FRANKINGS).
