The Saint Lawrence Seaway is the common name for a system of locks, canals and channels that permits ocean-going vessels to travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes, as far inland as the western end of Lake Superior. It was a collaboration between Canada and the United States and opened in 1959 with both countries issuing commemorative stamps. Only the Canadian 5¢ issue is known with an inverted center. (Image1)

SG No. 5a. Scott No. 3  Estimate $2,000 - 3,000. THE ONLY RECORDED PRINTED MATTER USE FROM THE CAPE OF GOOD OF HOPE TO DENMARK. This wrapper was likely holding a newspaper with 2d paying the printed matter rate to Great Britain. Although, it was specified to go by Royal Mail Steamer, this service was discontinued on Dec. 3rd 1853, so it likely traveled via Belgium. There are only four recorded covers bearing Cape of Good Hope stamps to Denmark, this being the only printed matter rate. (Image1)
