15 O 1 image#1, 5c Brown, four large and well balanced margins, obvious late printing shade and impression, superbly tied to small blue piece by black "Philadelphia, Pa./May 11" (1852 or later) c.d.s., representing a rare demonetized usage, extremely fine; the 1847 issue was demonetized on July 1, 1851 when the new 1851 designs were issued, although certain larger post offices tolerated the rare usage of the 1847 Issue for at least a while, this particular usage from Philadelphia represents a remarkably late demonetized usage, as the black Philadelphia town c.d.s. did not come into use until after 1852, so this May 11, 1852 usage is fully eleven months from the date of demonitization; one of the finest Five Cent 1847 Issue demonetized usages known off cover; 1991 PF certificate; ex-Waterhouse, Haas and Wall.
