At the time of this letter, Aurora was in Mono County. They would later fix the state line separating Nevada and California, and the town would become part of Esmeralda County, Nevada as a county seat in part of the 1860s. The Nevada postmaster originally started using Esmeralda the town name but this wasn't accepted in the end. Aurora is a ghost town now. (Image1)
