EXTREMELY FINE. A TRULY REMARKABLE AND EXCEEDINGLY RARE 10-CENT 1857 ISSUE MULTIPLE, FROM THE ONLY PLACE IN THE PLATE OF 200 WHERE TYPES IV AND I MEET.
There are only four possible Ty. IV vertical pairs (54/64L, 55/65L, 64/74L, 76/86L) on the plate of 200 (two horizontal pairs come from 54-55L and 64-65L). There is one possible vertical strip of three (54/64/74L) and one possible block of four (54-55/64-65L). Since Type I comes only from the bottom-row positions on the plate and only one position in the ninth row is Type IV (86L), the only Type IV-I combination possible is a vertical multiple containing 86/96L. This strip of three has the extra Type IV position in the eighth row (76L), forming a wonderful Type IV/IV/I combination. Only a few such multiples exist. (Image)
