213 c Image2c Carmine, Ty. II (319F). Pair and two singles, tied by New York oval registry handstamps and pair partly covered by registry label on 1906 cover originating in Frankfort, Germany and franked with Germany 80pf stamp for postage and registration to New York, upon receipt in New York the cover was struck with "Re-Registered/After Delivery" and forwarded via San Francisco to Shanghai, China, San Francisco registry label with sans-serif letters (FX-SF1a), unclaimed and returned to Frankfort via New York, wide variety of datestamps and handstamps trace its journey and its failure to find a recipient, including U.S. Postal Agency Shanghai backstamp, some unsurprising soiling and wear, minor stamp flaws, Fine and striking cover, for no additional postage a registered cover properly received could be forwarded as long as a new registry fee was paid, in this case represented by the four 2c Shield stamps (Image)

Jun. 20, 1905" machine cancel on mourning bordered cover to Milton Mass., cover was singed and damaged in the Central Railroad June 21, 1905 Mentor O. train wreck, it was placed into a Post Office Dept. legal-size envelope with a slip stating the occurrence of the wreck and sent on to its addressee (both of these pieces accompany the cover), larger cover opened roughly at right with faults, Fine and fascinating artifacts from this infamous wreck of the 20th Century Limited, which cost 21 people their lives (Image)
