A FINE AND TRULY OUTSTANDING SINGLE-FRANKING USE OF THE $2.00 1902 ISSUE, PAYING THE 40-TIMES U.P.U. RATE TO PALESTINE.

H. W. Dunning & Co. was a tour operator specializing in trips to the Middle East. Dr. Dunning was previously a professor at Yale University and taught courses in Arabic as well as other languages.

A similar but somewhat lesser-quality cover to the same addressee (forwarded to Beirut) realized $4,250 hammer in the first Brody sale held by Shreves. To the best of our knowledge, these two covers are the only examples of the $2.00 on mail to Palestine among the seven recorded on cover or piece.
