1124 nh Image1859-63, 2c Black, Grayish (16). Plate 3-D, Type II (Westerberg Position 2), stamp Mint N.H., lightly hinged in top sheet margin only, large to huge margins, detailed impression, light creases at top in margin only (the stamp is sound and Mint N.H.)

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS WITHOUT QUESTION ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF THE 1859-63 2-CENT HAWAIIAN NUMERAL IN EXISTENCE. THE STAMP IS MINT NEVER-HINGED AND SOUND. TRULY REMARKABLE.

Power Search located only five others with full original gum and one with part original gum. None were sound and no other has margins approaching the size of the stamp offered here. This is the only Mint N.H. stamp among them. The 1c (Scott 15) is available in blocks, but the 2c offered here is not -- the Honolulu Advertiser sale contained no unused multiples, so there is nothing that could be cut apart to create such a superb single.
