755° nh Image5c Blue, Coil (317). Mint N.H., intense shade and impression on crisp paper, beautifully centered with wide and balanced margins, fresh and pristine

EXTREMELY FINE. A RARE MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 1908 5-CENT VERTICAL COIL, SCOTT 317.

The 5c 1908 Coil stamps, which were stripped by hand, are almost always centered to one side. The example offered here, with wide margins on both sides, is a rarity for the issue. Factoring in its Mint Never-Hinged gum, this stamp is certainly one of the finest examples of the issue.

With 1958 P.F. certificate for a pair, issued to Raymond H. Weill. With 2014 P.S.E. certificate (VF-XF 85; unpriced in SMQ in Mint N.H. condition). This is the only Mint N.H. example contained in the P.S.E. Population Report (Image)

758 og Image1c Blue Green, Coil (318). Lightly hinged, unusually intense shade, centered to right but just a single perf touches the design, fresh and Fine, a collectible sound example of this coil rarity, with 1996 P.F. (for strip of three) and 2014 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, VG 50), an unjustifiably harsh grade in our opinion for this Fine coil stamp (Image)
