529° ng Image10c Blue, Frameline (10). Unused (no gum), showing complete framelines on three sides and most of frameline at top, bright shade and crisp impression

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES 10-CENT FRAMELINE ISSUE, WHICH IS GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E. A REMARKABLE STAMP IN EVERY RESPECT.

The most important characteristic of Scott 10 is the frameline around each stamp. The lines were engraved on the plate and served as a guide for the siderographer when aligning the transfer roll to make the plate. Each stamp shares framelines with the adjoining positions. That makes examples such as the one offered here, with essentially four intact framelines, true condition rarities.

With 2015 P.F. and 2016 P.S.E. certificates (both graded NG, Superb 98; SMQ $20,000.00) (Image)

531° ngbl Image10c Blue, Frameline (10). Block of four, unused (no gum), huge margins to just in at top right including part of adjoining stamp at top left, showing virtually complete framelines on two sides plus the framelines at center, top left stamp some thinning, bottom right stamp very light stain in upper right margin

FINE-VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS THE ONLY RECORDED BLOCK OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES 10-CENT FRAMELINE ISSUE.

The most important characteristic of Scott 10 is the frameline around each stamp. The lines were engraved on the plate and served as a guide for the siderographer when aligning the transfer roll to make the plate. Each stamp shares framelines with the adjoining positions.

The only other multiples of the 10c Frameline are strips -- this is the only recorded block. A strip is not necessarily the ideal way to view the frameline, because strips do not show the full layout of the framelines. The block offered here, with the "+" frameline between stamps and framelines at sides, is the ideal way to show the layout of the frameline.

With 1979 P.F. and 2006 C.S.A. certificates. This remarkable multiple brought $11,500 hammer in our 1987 Rarities sale. Illustrated in the Confederate States Catalog and Handbook on p. 342, where it is priced at $45,000.00. Scott Retail (Image)

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A REMARKABLE TURNED USE OF THE CONFEDERATE STATES 10-CENT FRAMELINE ISSUE, WITH A FRAMELINE STAMP USED FOR BOTH USES.
