Three stamps totaling $1.06 for the return flight, incl. the Roessler 1c "Graf Zeppelin" overprint that he applied to some 1c Green stamps because he felt the U.S. Post Office had not appropriately commemorated the Graf Zeppelin's flight to America (he almost went to jail for fraudulently issuing a U.S. postage stamp), tied by Lakehurst Oct 29, 1928 duplex and violet flight cachet on cacheted cover, sent to Chicago, numerous backstamps, cover with a few minor bends, otherwise Very Fine, this unauthorized overprint is scarce used on a flown cover, mentioned but not priced in Sieger (Image)

1390 c Image1932, February 18, London, England to Darwin, Australia, Crashed and Terminated in Italy. Carried and signed by pilot R.S. Hamilton and mechanic R.A. Coupland from London on Feb. 18, 1932, flight crashed due to heavy snowfall on first leg in Puglia, Italy causing severe damage, both crewman survived but were injured and flight was abandoned, cover eventually sent from Rome on Feb. 19 with Italy 1l pair and 5l stamps, Ruvo di Puglia circular datestamp at bottom, Very Fine example from this abandoned flight, only eight covers were recovered from the crash, with 2002 Longhi certificate.
