The cover offered here was found among the papers of the recipient, Saco Me. attorney Moses Emery. Phineas Pratt and Emery were business associates involved in lumbering, logging and land speculation. Allegedly they suffered severe losses attempting to sell shingles and lumber in San Francisco during the gold rush. (Image)
