3		24c Gray Lilac (37). Mint N.H., choice centering for this tightly spaced issue, rich color on post office fresh paper VERY FINE AND CHOICE. THE 1860 24-CENT GRAY LILAC IS EXTREMELY RARE IN MINT NEVER-HINGED CONDITION. TO FIND A SOUND WELL-CENTERED EXAMPLE IS VASTLY MORE DIFFICULT. Aside from five Mint N.H. stamps contained in the block of twelve offered in our Sevenoaks sale (Sale 831) and one single contained in another block of twelve offered in our 2010 Rarities sale, we have offered only three others in Mint N.H. condition since keeping computerized records. 4		24c Gray Lilac (37). Original gum, lightly hinged, lovely rich color and crisp impression, wide margins EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 1860 24-CENT GRAY LILAC. 5		24c Gray Lilac (37). Vertical block of 20 with full original gum, four stamps Mint N.H. (positions 6, 11, 14 and 15), rich color and remarkably bright and fresh, well-centered for a large multiple, small manuscript note on back shows thru slightly on upper right pair, few perf separations, faint bend in fourth row, two stamps (positions 4 and 16) with small thin spot FINE-VERY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING 24-CENT 1860 BLOCK -- ONE OF THE LARGEST AND ARGUABLY THE FINEST MULTIPLE EXTANT. Ex Caspary, Klein, Zoellner and DuPuy. With 2011 P.F. certificate. 6		3c Scarlet, Reprint (41). Without gum as issued, vivid color as fresh as the day it was printed, bright paper, wide margins for this difficult issue VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A BEAUTIFUL AND REMARKABLY FRESH EXAMPLE OF THE 3-CENT 1857 REPRINT. The Continental Bank Note Company made a new plate for the 3c 1857 Reprint, consisting of 100 subjects. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). 479 of the 3c were sold, and the remaining 9,521 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General. A review using Power Search shows that virtually all are off center to some degree, and many have perforations touching on one or more sides due to the narrow spacing on the plate. 7		10c Blue Green, Reprint (43). Without gum as issued, intense shade and impression on bright paper, well-balanced margins EXTREMELY FINE. A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF THE 10-CENT 1857 REPRINT. The Continental Bank Note Company made a new plate for the 10c 1857 Reprint, consisting of 100 subjects, using an original transfer roll. 10,000 stamps were printed (100 impressions). All are Type I stamps. 516 of the 10c were sold, and the remaining 9,484 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General. Ex Gorham. With 1976 and 2000 P.F. certificates. 8		12c Greenish Black, Reprint (44). Without gum as issued, beautifully centered with wide margins, deep shade and sharp impression on bright paper, full intact perforations all around EXTREMELY FINE GEM. ONE OF THE FINEST 12-CENT 1857 REPRINTS EXTANT. The narrow spaces between stamps on the 12c 1857 Reprint plate allowed almost no room for large 12-gauge perforations, and the Reprints were generally perforated into parts of the design. Examples such as this, with the framelines complete on all four sides, are extremely rare. With 2004 P.F. and 2012 P.S.E. certificates (XF 90 Jumbo; SMQ $11,000.00). 9		90c Deep Blue, Reprint (47). Without gum as issued, deep rich color on bright paper, unusually wide margins EXTREMELY FINE GEM. THIS IS WITHOUT QUESTION ONE OF THE FINEST AND WIDEST-MARGINED EXAMPLES OF THE 90-CENT 1860 REPRINT IN EXISTENCE. The Continental Bank Note Company reprinted the 90c stamp from the original plate of 200 subjects. 10,000 were printed (50 impressions). Only 454 were sold; the remaining 9,546 were destroyed on July 23, 1884, by order of the Postmaster General. This is one of the few 90c 1860 Reprint stamps we have seen with wide margins at the top and bottom. Ex Gorham. With 1979, 1992 and 2004 P.F. certificates.
