544   Beer Stamps with Plate Numbers and Marginal Markings. A remarkable collection of more than 130 stamps arranged on stock pages, every stamp with plate number or significant marginal marking, assembled by Mr. Cleland over a long lifetime of collecting from countless sources, includes 1871 Issue (6), 1875 Issue (8), 1878 Issue (42), and 1898-on including overprints, the stamps are not identified by Scott number and a careful review produced none of the rarities, but many stamps have Scott Retail values in the $25 to $200 range, which of course do not begin to convey the premium for plate number examples (retail prices would be $75 to $100 or more on many), mixed condition, some with more of the typical damage than others, quite a few are gorgeous appearing large-margined stamps, a wonderful lot of tremendous value to the Beer Stamp specialist and student of Bank Note and Bureau printing, our estimate will undoubtedly prove to be very conservative
