EXTREMELY FINE ORIGINAL-GUM EXAMPLE OF THE 8-CENT ON 50-CENT BISTER BROWN, SCOTT 15.

According to the book Canal Zone Stamps only 500 of Scott No. 15 were issued, making it one of the rarest Canal Zone stamps. Most have, and the Scott value is for disturbed gum.

Seven stamps representing the complete set of the unissued Coat of Arms values above the 2c, tropicalized original gum, bright colors, nice margins and centering, Very Fine and scarce set, these were prepared but never issued as the use of overprinted U.S. stamps began in April 1925, 600 sets were sent to the Director General of Posts of Panama, ostensibly for transmission to the UPU in Switzerland, a small number of sets ended up in the hands of dealers, the balance of the supply was destroyed in 1937 (Image)
