VERY FINE. A RARE USE OF THE $1.00 COLUMBIAN ON A 2-CENT COLUMBIAN ENTIRE, CANCELLED BY THE HAND-APPLIED EXPOSITION DUPLEX ON THE LAST DAY OF THE COLUMBIAN WORLD'S FAIR.

The Columbian Exposition opened to the public on May 1, 1893, and ran until October 30, 1893. The cover offered here, with a dollar-value stamp cancelled at the exposition on its last day, is a remarkable rarity. One other cover prepared by the same sender, addressed to a different person in Mount Savage, is recorded in the 2013 Ludeman Columbian Dollar-Value Cover Census. (Image)
