2441   Image10c Milky Blue, Die A (11a). Horizontal strip of five, large margins to touched at top of one stamp, cancelled by "Pollard Ala. Jun. 15, 1863" circular datestamps, Very Fine and scarce used strip of five, we wish we had the cover from which this originated, one can imagine that it was a 50c Trans-Mississippi "Preferred Mail" use, the date of June 1863 fits neatly within the time period of the May 1, 1863 announcement of the service and when it was superseded by the 40c Trans-Mississippi Express service in October (only five "Preferred Mail" covers are recorded) (Image)
