3808 c France First Day and Exhibition Cover Collection, 1907-2010. An extraordinary collection of probably close to 10,000 covers or cards in 59 cover albums plus a small number of loose, the exhibition covers start in 1907 and contain many of the specialty stamps used at the matching exhibitions, incl. 1923 Philatelic Congress (four on different exhibition dates using the 1fr overprint, No. 197), 1927 Strasbourg (pair from the souvenir sheet), 1929 Le Havre (six with the special 2fr stamp, No. 246), 1927 First Air Post (two sets on exhibition covers) and five with the 1930 1.50fr Blue Air Post with "E.I.P.A. 30" perf initials (No. C6b), the first day covers start in 1923 and are quite comprehensive from the 1940s onward, incl. Semi-Postals, Air Posts and other Back-of-Book, largely Very Fine, certainly one the most extensive collections of its kind ever offered in this country

3814 c Great Britain Postal Marking Collection. 134 covers neatly mounted on exhibition pages, nearly all from pre-stamp period, incl. a few manuscript markings, time of day marking, instructional handstamps, Penny Postage, Official markings, Scottish Road Tax handstamp, etc., the majority of the collection focuses on Free Franks, nice variety of senders, incl. Frederick Augustus, King George IV, William Melbourne, Lord Stanley, Robert Peel, Guy Carlton Dorchester and many more, also letter from William Gladstone as Prime Minister that was not put into the Official mail box and sent to the U.S. with 10c Postage Due stamp tied by N.Y. blue oval, somewhat mixed quality and some of the Free Franks are fronts only as is often the case, would make a nice start to collecting British pre-stamp markings

Reconstruction of all plates (except of course plates 77 and 225), contains all 240 positions of each plate for a total of 36,000 stamps, all neatly mounted in eight albums, overall condition is better than normally seen, the vast majority facially attractive and lightly cancelled, Fine, to try to duplicate this collection from scratch would require years (if not decades) of painstaking work, Scott retail value is in excess of $300,000.00
