Va., captioned "Orville Wright and his World Record-breaking Aeroplane, Fort Myer Va.", couple minor frayed perfs at left, otherwise Very Fine, the first military airplane in the world, built by the Wright brothers for the Army Signal Corps, made its first flight at Fort Myer Va. in Sep. 1908, after a subsequent crash a new plane was delivered the following summer, when Orville made additional demonstration flights at Fort Myer in a Wright A plane, an improvement of the 1908 design (this is the flight shown on the card), the Army formally accepted Signal Corps Airplane No. 1, the world's first military airplane, on Aug. 2, 1909, days before this card was mailed (Image)
