This example was originally the property of LC DR Elwood J. Wilson, the Commanding Officer and deputy Military Governor of Kume Shima; who authorized the printing and issuing of this provisional usage. Shortly before leaving the island on 6 Oct. 1945, he requested Postmaster Norifumi Kikuzato to cancel a sheet for him as a WWII souvenir. This stamp was from that sheet.
