4153   imageNicaragua, 1930, Pan-American Flight, registered cover with Nicaragua & U.S. mixed franking, prepared to fly by Graf zeppelin from Habana to Lakehurst but when the airship failed to land at Cuba it was carried by boat to New York, and then flown in the return flight from Lakehurst to Friedrichshafen. Nicaragua 15¢ on 25¢, 20¢ on 25¢ & 50¢ airmails (C5, C7 x2 & C8 x2) tied on front by multiple May 15, 1930 rectangular datestamps, plus three additional stamps on reverse tied by circular datestamps, United States $1.30 airmail (C14) tied by Lakehurst May 27, 1930 duplex postmark, adjacent red German & violet U.S. zeppelin cachets, backstamped with transit & receiving markings; envelope with trivial edge folds not affecting stamps, Fine to Very Fine, exceptionally rare with Sieger reporting only eleven mixed franking items flown, this being one of only six covers with the $1.30 Zeppelin stamp.
