In three binders with duplication, We noted a fair number of mint stamps, including singles, gutter pairs, blocks of four, imperforate vertical pair (YT 198c) and two dated corner blocks issued in 1928 & 1929. We also noted several valuable 1903 gutter pairs that deserve your attention: 10¢ rose (numbers 3, 5 & 6); 15¢ slate-green (3, 4 & 9); 20¢ violet-brown (number 3) & 25¢ (numbers 3, 4, 5 & 6), plus some used stamps with slogan cancels. There is also a small box filled with glassines with used duplicates arranged in some kind of chronological order. Opportunity well suited for students, connoisseurs, and anyone else interested in these issues, Fine to Very Fine.

512   imageFrench Colonies: Indochina, Picture Postcard & Postal Card Collection, 1888-1937. About 110 items displayed in a postcard album. Perhaps 70 are used picture postcards plus a handful of used postal cards while about 25 are unused picture postcards. Of course, the majority of cards were mailed to France plus a few other to European countries. However, there are some local usages as well. The earliest items are the few postal cards. Among these early cards, we note several are Military Free Franks. Later cards depict native men and women in their daily lives, plus other cards show important buildings and tourist sites. Many cards were mailed in either Saigon or Hanoi, but there are some from smaller towns and villages as well. Viewers may possibly lose track of time as they peruse these cards, Fine to Very Fine.

Nine covers and 38 picture postcards, most related to Indochina Railroads; about 30 have T.P.O. markings, while 16 picture postcards, some unused, show various railroad scenes, primarily stations; most of the T.P.O. covers are written up with tracings of the pertinent markings and color photocopies of the reverse; all are to France or mailed internally; also includes about 40 stamps, mainly French Offices in China, a few with identified railroad cancels. Two Scott Specialty albums loaded with better material from a wide range of areas; not much value in the 19th century, but plenty in the 20th; mint highlights include Germany B19-22, B34-57 (20pf Wagner perf 13½x14), B327-330 (NH), 9N1-20, 9NB3a (NH), Danzig 241-254 (NH), Memel N87-90 and French Zone nearly complete; among the used highlights are Germany B59-67, B309-313, B320-323, B334-337, C43-45, Saar B5-8 & B69-73 with genuine cancels, and much, much more, including a pleasant group of Colonies & Offices Abroad (though without any high values). As for condition, the 19th century States issues, which are a tiny percentage of the value, are somewhat mixed, but the 20th century is just about all clean and F-VF with NH beginning in the mid-1950s. A truly exceptional lot.
