A wonderful holding started in the 1920s, housed in quadrille leaves in two albums, loaded with classics through to the 1950s with descriptions written up in ink. There are about 1,800 mint and used stamps all in all, as well as the postal history. Highlights include a fabulous study of the "condor" classic issues with over 110 of the 5¢ green presented by the states I to V of the plate, including at least twenty used examples as well as mint multiples. The 5¢ violet has several shades, including three postally used and two mint with sidewalk margins. Then the 10¢ brown used x5, including circular datestamp and straight-line postmarks, the latter with enormous margins, plus an example on cover with likely revenue cancel but still rare. The 50¢ orange two mint blocks of ten in distinctive shades and several singles, including on with "Paz" in black, followed by the very scarce 50¢ blue with two attractive used examples, one pen canceled and the other with an interesting ring cancel, the 100¢ blue section includes 9 mint stamps, and the 100¢ green x3 used stamps with fiscal cancels. Then the perforated issues starting with 1868-69 Coat of Arms series with nine stars, including 500¢ mint stamp, followed by a study of bisects on these issues, including the scarce 10¢ vermilion tied on 5¢ stationery envelope, 1878 Arms & Law series with mint multiples of the 5¢, 10¢ & 20¢, plus the 50¢ unused as well as bisects of the 10¢ & 20¢ on cover fragments. The 1887 rouletted issue includes 10¢ never hinged imprint marginal block of four and 5¢ postal stationery envelope with additional roulette 1¢ & 5¢ to London,1890 "stars" scarce proofs on thick white paper, followed by further stationery of the 1880s, two-page cancellation study, including fancy or town cancels (Cochabamba, Irupana, Potosi, Sucre & Oruro), 1894 coat of arms issue in detail with each value identified by the Paris & London prints, plus forgeries identified as such, 1899 "EF" overprints complete mint and used with extras, including inverted. Other good material in the 20th century includes #68 imperforate block of four, #75-76 with specimen perfins, 1909 Centenary of Revolution #78 imperforate & #81 perforated with inverted center, 1910 War of Independence #92 & #94 imperforate pairs, 1916-17 pictorial designs in unissued colors, 1925 Centenary of the Republic series of eight (5¢ to 5b) with specimen handstamps. In the back of the second volume are found fascinating back of the book issues with studies of the 19th century "justice" postal fiscals of 1870s onwards, 1883 "Bolivar" revenue proofs, plus some unofficial issues, including 1916 full set of nine for the Guiqui-La Paz Railroad. A delightful collection that needs to be viewed patiently, and an excellent opportunity for the specialized collector or dealer, Fine to Very Fine.
