Herman Herst, Jr., wrote the following on page 75 of his bestselling book, Nassau Street: "George B. Sloane was one of the finest gentlemen who ever wielded a pair of stamp tweezers. His patience and helpfulness with the newer dealer was a great asset to me, as it was to others".
