1878   imageIndia, Extraordinary East India Company and Crown Colony Issues, 19th Century Postal History Assemblage. A magnificent holding comprised of over 1,150 covers and cards each dutifully housed in its own cover sleeve, nearly all with basic to detailed descriptions. Includes an incredible array of scarce to rare postmarks and postal markings, frankings and rates, small towns, domestic usages as well as used abroad, countless two to four color Victoria issue franking combinations, rare covers bearing usages of the fiscal overprint stamps and much, much more, too numerous to note. With over 1,150 covers or cards present, this lot should prove to be a treasure trove to the internet merchant. Condition ranges as might be expected, still largely Fine to Very Fine; simply put, a lot like this does not come around often, a through inspection is invited.

An intact, fairly complete mint collection with a few used duplicates on Scott Specialty album pages; earlies are scattered but include #10, 15, 16, 19C & 24, mainly mixed quality; beginning with the 1873-76 issues the collection is virtually complete and Fine to Very Fine including #31-179 (the 25r KEVII is just Fine), C1-6 & M1-22 and Indian Forces in Southeast Asia; never hinged from 1962 onward plus a few earlier (like #233-273). 1884 /o   imageIndia, Extensive and Useful Mint Or Used Accumulation. Comprised of many hundreds, overall mostly used, arranged on a stack of Scott numbered stockcards, plus a second group of sheets and part sheets. We note many highlights such as 1½a Ghandi (203), a complete sheet of 50 (interleaving adherences) plus several blocks, 12a (204), block of 16, crease on row, 244-45 blocks of 31 and others. The stockcards feature better such as mint 15, 15a, 19, 123, 168-79, 203-06, plus excellent used with premium, lots of officials and extensive States as well. Much of used, condition varies, but bulk Fine to Very Fine, well worth a careful review.

1894   imageIndian States: Jammu & Kashmir, Postal History & Stamps Collection, 1867-97. Approximately 70 stamps & thirteen covers mostly mounted on pages. We noted 2a orange-red vertical pair, issued in 1881-83, 1/8a yellow vertical pair, issued in 1883-94, 1a dull green & 2a red on yellow paper (Scott 104,108 & 118), plus scarce official multiples, including ½a rare imperforate strip of three, ½a imperforate block of six & 2a two imperforate blocks of eight ideal for plating, also India regular stamps used in Jammu & Kashmir. Covers include Jammu 1a deep ultramarine on native paper tied on home-made cover, ½a grey-black on brown, 4a bright blue special printing cut to shape and tied on reverse of cover, India two ½a postal envelopes with Jammu-Kashmir frankings, plus four covers with India ½a single frankings tied by manuscript cancels and receiving backstamps. This lot should be viewed carefully, a keen eye could find some nice surprises, Fine to Very Fine.

1896 o/   imageIndian Post Offices Abroad, Magnificent Vintage Era Collection. Keenly assembled and beautifully annotated, housed in 4 Gibbons "Plymouth" albums and one Frank Godden volume, comprised of many hundreds of covers, cards and stamps, comprising a study of the various 19th and early 20th Century cancel types used by the Indian post offices abroad, as well as many paquebot post marks etc. Volume 1 is comprised solely of Aden, and includes a 1854 4a adhesive usage, Aden date stamps on a variety of other Indian stamps, covers, Aden Cantonment and Aden Camp date stamps, a lovely range of sub-offices, including examples from Maalla, Kamaran, Dthali, Perim, Khormaksar, Sheikh, Othman and others, then continues rather strongly to include usage from Abadan, Ahwaz, Bandar-abas, Guadur, Pasni, Henjam, Kuwait, Linga, Mohammera, Muscat, Dozdab, Indian Exchange P.O., Koh-I-Mauk-Siah-Ziarat, many Zanzibar, Somaliland, Sudan, Abyssinia, Mombassa, Bahrain and Bagdad usages, good Busrah, including 7 nice Queen Victoria covers, Dubai, Bushire again with 7 lovely Victoria covers, Batavia, Afghanistan with a splendid hand-drawn pictorial cover from the second Afghan War, Nepal, scarce Tibet items including Lahassa, Gangtok, Pharijon, Gyantse and Yatung as well as several 1924 Everest covers. A magnificent holding of hundreds of used stamps, loose or on small piece, all separated and identified in holders, from the 1854 first issue to the KGV era, showing an exceptional range of usages from Aden, Abyssinian Field Forces, Burma, Bushire, Cochin, East Africa, Iraq, Penang, Persian Field Forces, Pondicherry and Karikal French India, Singapore, scarce Tranquebar Danish Settlements and many others. Includes a wonderful range of examples from the 1854 issue, including quite a few 4a usages. We also noted many sets issued in the 1937-85 period, and a group of complete & unexploded booklets, stampless letter and some first day covers. Condition is mostly Very Fine.
