1857, 3¢ rose, type I (Scott 25), o.g., barest trace of hinge (appears never hinged), extremely desirable example of this difficult stamp in immaculate condition, with glowing rich color and detailed impression, quite scarce in this remarkable state of preservation, Very Fine, 1986 P.F. certificate for block of 4, from which this stamp was taken, this being the upper left stamp from the block.

1857, 3¢ dull red, type IV (Scott 26A), o.g., barest trace of hinge (appears never hinged), exemplary example of this ridiculously undervalued type IV stamp, with wide right sheet margin showing partial imprint, among the finest we have ever offered at public auction, that could possibly be Never Hinged, a striking showpiece deserving of serious bids in multiples of it's modest catalog value of only $600, as you almost never see this stamp offered, Extremely Fine, 1988 P.F. certificate.
