338 F 6 var. imageItalian States: Papal/Roman States, 1855-57, 5b black on rose, Bologna postal forgery, used on folded letter to Firenze (Scott 6 var.), type II stamp with three large margins and just clear of the frameline at top, paying the proper rate for a single weight letter from Bologna to Tuscany, tied by grill cancel, adjacent Bologna Nov. 23, 1855 circular datestamp, Firenze backstamp, filing fold not affecting stamp and some stains, Fine to Very Fine, these forgeries are known as rare with margins, signed by A. Diena, Sergio Sismondo & others, also accompanied with 1973 A. Diena Certificate.

340   imageItalian States: Sardinia, 1820, 50c "Cavallino" stamped letter sheet, with 50c embossed on yellowish white hand-made wove paper, and watermark "Arms of Savoy" & "Corrispondenza autorizzata in corso particolare per pedoni e altre occasioni-Direzione Generale Delle Poste", sheet (258 x 198 mm. average dimensions) is approximately one half of the original letter sheet as had been sold to the public; fresh state of preservation but two light file folds affecting the embossed stamp, Fine to Very Fine, signed by Alberto Diena, with 2005 Sismondo certificate.
