1942 O   imageExtensive Cancel Collection, from Classics to Modern, in neatly annotated 102 cards in binders. This collection was carefully assembled over many years and is comprised of over 7,000 stamps with more than 5,670 different city and town cancels for the most part. The majority of the cancels are well positioned and include the date. The total value of the collection using Scott Catalogue 2020 is $7694. This does not take into account premiums for the 1487 cancels that are rarity factor R3 plus rated in Norgeskatalogen postal II, The scarcer cancels tend to be on the classics and the back of the book material. Also included is the book; Norgeskatalogen postal II (Oslo filatelistklubb, 2014). This reference covers, in detail; 1-ring and 3-ring numeral cancellations, 2-ring cancellations, including Schweitzer-styled c.d.s as well as Crowned Posthorn cancels. There are also two thick binders containing photocopied reference material and the like. Overall fine to very fine. This is a very impressive specialized collection. 1944 O/nh   imageMeticulously Assembled, Near Complete, Used Collection, from Classics to Recent, on Scott album pages in a padded blue binder with a slip cover. The aim of the collector was clearly to assemble the finest possible collection based on the quality of the postmarks. As such, this extensive collection is composed almost exclusively of c.d.s. cancelled stamps; with a huge number having clean, well positioned postmarks. The collection is missing only a handful of stamps by album illustration, with just a few of the souvenir sheets never hinged. Of the c.d.s. stamps, only a few are roller or machine cancelled, the rest are true c.d.s. The collection has numerous extras, such as plenty of better shades listed in the Norgeskatalogen catalogue, as well as some blocks of four with neat central postmarks. This is a partial listing of the stamps with better postmarks, Scott # 7 Vaagen, 18 Dal, 26 Ure, 41 Holen, 44 Sel, 66 Skjoldehavn, 68 Rysfjaeren, 70 Hull (British ship postmark), 75 Ilseng, along with many others. There is a great deal of additional material at the back of the regular issue section as well as at the end of the album, with unmounted modern material, plus a number of covers of interest. For reference only, the Scott catalogue value for least expensive is $10,163. Overall fine to very fine and easily one of the nicest Norway collections we have handled. 1947 O   imageCollection / Accumulation of Used Material, 1918-1982, consisting of a few thousand stamps in five albums and stockbooks. 1948 O/og   imagePortugal & Colonies Collection in an Old Scott Specialty Album 1853 to 1967, mint and used collection with Portugal well on it's way, and an unusually full colonies section. The Portugal classics are reasonably well represented. 1956 O/og   imageCollection / Accumulation of Mint and Used Sarawak, 1869-1979, containing many hundreds of primarily used stamps, in various Vario-style stock page configurations and a few quadrille pages, housed in a binder. We note selected sets and partial sets in 4 and 5 row Vario-style pages and stock cards, including Scott #s (includes owner's catalogue values and identification notations): 1/35 (mint and used, c.v. $330), 8-20 ( mint and used, c.v. $500), 22-24 (used, c.v. $515), 36/48 (mint and used, c.v. $211), 50/93 (mint and used, c.v. $265). The lot continues with 4 pages of primarily used owner's accumulated duplicates, ranging from Scott #2/211 with a catalogue value of $800. A spot check revealed a few small faults, along with mostly mint hinged stamps, some no gum and a few never hinged. 1958 O/og/nh   imageHuge Nordic Countries Collections and Lots, from Classics to the 2000s, on older album pages in binders, on stock pages, in 102 cards, envelopes, etc., all filling two wine boxes. Powered by better classics and semi-classics, the total catalogue value of this lot will be quite high. There are definitely the makings of respectable single-collections for Denmark, Finland and Sweden. Although this lot is primarily used, there is a respectable value in mint never hinged modern material as well. We noted numerous well-centered postmarks, particularly among the Norway and Sweden. Included also is a representation of Karelia and Schleswig. To illustrate the size of this lot, we estimated the total number of stamps for the component countries to be; Denmark 5,000 stamps, Finland 4,000, Iceland 500, Norway 5,000 and Sweden 6,000 stamps; for a grand total of over 20,000 stamps.
