The majority of the covers range in the 1960's with a few earlier examples from the Mufti, King George V Jubilee, and King George VI with and without "Postes-Postage". The majority of private cachets are from Rosecraft, along with a few JCR, Cole, and Ottawa Philatelic Society, and a few replacement cachets. Duplication is up to 4 in some cases, with some covers franked with single and blocks. A few of the earlier covers have small faults with soiling and corner folds. Overall, fine to very fine. Dealer Stock of Ontario Postal History by County, a very clean stock stored in a black dealer travelling case, all in new sleeves with descriptions and prices (range is generally $5 to $30 per item). We counted a total of 52 different counties (York was lotted separately), ranging from one item to about a hundred. While some larger towns are included, the bulk of the stock is of smaller towns. We also noted corner card advertising, postmark interest, picture postcards, etc. Generally a very nice quality lot, the retail value given is the total of all items within. 1919 3c Brown Hawker Overprinted Airmail Issue on Flown Cover,mailed from St John's on APR.12.1919 (machine cancel) to West Malvern, England, with English seal on back (used to close open flap) cancelled London APR.30.1919. The cover is franked with a well centered Newfoundland C1, which was lifted and re-attached in a slightly different position, tied by the St John's machine, and there is a "per Aeroplane" endorsement at top left. Small tear at bottom does not detract, very fine. Rsv. $16,500.

This flight made a controlled crash landing in the ocean, after about 13 hours of flight, which probably explains why the back flap and the stamp both became unattached. An exceedingly rare cover, as only 200 stamps were overprinted, 18 of those destroyed as they were defective and with only 95 used stamps believed to exist, far fewer remain on their original covers.
