Franked with a single 1c Small Queen (perf. 11½ x 12), tied and cancelled by a fancy "M" cork (Lacelle #582). The double-sided letter inside is datelined Bishop's Court and is signed "J. 1102 CVR   image1872 Fort Garry, Manitoba 3c Small Queen Cover to Toronto, mailed with a FORT-GARRY / MANITOBA broken circle dated APR.13 to Toronto (faint APR.26 receiver), through Windsor (APR.24 transit from having travelled through the US). The cover is franked with a single 3c rose Small Queen, cancelled by a fancy star cork (Lacelle #994). All the cards are sleeved and some include pricing (ranging from $2 to $4 retail) and postmark information. The stamped covers include three to NB/NS with 3d blue stamps, an 1872 domestic cover with a rose 3c stamp, 1873 cover to NB with 4c green stamp. The cover is franked with three 2d dull rose first issues (perforated 9) plus a 3d blue 1862-65 single paying 9d. Faults described on the (pink) 2004 Greene Foundation certificate as "... {stamps} cleaned to lighten pen cancels, heavily creased along cover crease with some perforation damage", still a rare franking / destination, ex Maurice Burrus and Dr. R. As expected, most are from Montréal, but we also noted scarcer ones such as Adamsville, Pearceton, Father Point, Franklin (unusual c.d.s.), Parkhurst, Franklin Centre and St Jean Baptiste de Rouville. There are many more postmarks of interest in this group, as well as early Small Queen usages (1870-1873, including 1c, 3c and 6c) as well as a few Large Queen covers and stampless. Our scans show some of the "other sides" of Q postmarks to give an idea. Mixed condition, still overall fine to very fine.
