1004 CVR   imageGroup of 250 First Flight Covers, 1928-1950s, with 89 covers on old time pages in corner mounts (with cardboard stiffeners inside), the majority ranging from 1937 to 1939. We note better frankings with a few Mufti, Scroll, and Arch booklet panes, coils, C1-C5. etc. The balance of the lot ranges from 1928 to the 1950s which includes two pilot-signed covers, a few routes to the United States and Trans-Atlantic flight to England. 1005 CVR   imageGroup of Roughly 300 Commercial Airmail Covers, 1930s-1980s, consisting of domestic, cross border, and international destinations, with solo and combination frankings. Most of the international airmails were destined to Europe (England, Germany, Holland, etc.), along with a few to Australia, Vietnam, and the Caribbean. Better items include: 50c Peace issue solo franking to Australia (SEP.19.1946); 10c per ½ ounce uncommon rate to Brazil (MAR.27.1961); 68c to Vietnam with anti-capitalist tax marking on the front (AUG.22.1985); 15c rate to Berlin-Wilmersdorf (British Sector, JUL.22.1951). Better United States items include: combination USA/Canada franking with 7c Goose and 8c Prexi to prepay airmail services in the United States (includes enclosure letter), an 8c rate dated DEC.16.1933, which was in effect from AUG.1.1932. to JUL.1.1934. Better domestic items include: bag tags (including a clerk hammer), tied air mail etiquette's, and some illustrated mail. Most of the mail are #8 sized envelopes but also includes #10 (roughly 40) to the United States. Online photos show a representative sample of the lot. 1006 CVR CLP3, CLP5 imageGroup of Aero Club of Canada and Estevan-Winnipeg Flight Covers, 1919-1924, includes CLP3 on an AUG.25.1919 flight cover from Toronto to New York, with 2 vertical creases (either side of the stamp). Also CLP5 on an OCT.1.1924 cover from Estevan to Winnipeg. Plane was forced to land at Bienfait, Saskatchewan and mail was forwarded by rail. The cover has major faults that include creases, small tears and part of the cover is missing at right. Also two covers from the same flight without the CLP5, which are in very fine condition. 1008 CVR CL2, CL3 imageGroup of Three Laurentide Air Service Covers, October 1924, includes two CL2 covers and one franked with CL3. The first CL2 (possible commercial cover), includes the enclosure on company letterhead to a customer in the United States, (see scan online) and includes flight information made by the company (first one we have seen), with Rouyn Lake postmarked OCT.16. 1924 tying a 3c Admiral on the front, and on top of the CL2 on the back. The second CL2 cover originates at Haileybury with an OCT.16. 1924 postmark tying the 3c Admiral on the front and on the back tying the CL2 stamp to the cover, and includes Rouyn Lake receivers from OCT.17.1924 and OCT.24. 1924. The CL3 cover is pilot signed by "C. S. Cardwell", with Rouyn Lake postmark missing month (reads as 3, 1924), on front of cover tying 3c Admiral and a free strike on the front and on top of the CL3 on back. The CL2 possible commercial cover opened roughly (as is normal with commercial covers), and the covers have other small faults from humid storage. The enclosure should be viewed as significant as many of these letters were discarded. Overall fine and first time on the market, from the Armstrong find. The lot also includes two (CL44)-2800 Victoria-Vancouver first flights without the CL44 stamp and a 1922, January 20 Halifax N.S. to St. John's NFLD first airmail, franked with 10c and 20c Admirals (cover did not fly and is considered an interrupted flight with little known about it's origins). The last three covers were not included toward catalogue value. Some covers have faults due to humidity from storage along with tears and other faults. The first cover is a first flight originating from Red Lake with JUL. 7. 1926 postmark to Sioux Lookout on the same date, tying the CL13d (route inscription in blue-black along with small "t" in "TO" variety), along with green Maple Leaf cachet on front and back. The second cover is an unlisted flight originating from Red Lake with JUL.22.1926 postmark to Rolling Portage with receiver dated JUL. 23. 1926, with both postmarks tying the CL13 on back. The third cover is an unlisted flight cover originating from Woman Lake and has the Woman Lake company cachet in grey, postmark dated AUG.23.1926, on front, tying a pair of 1c Admirals. The back has the CL13 stamp tied by a Red Lake AUG.26 postmark. (It is interesting that the CL13 was used as mail from Woman Lake should have been franked with a CL18, making this cover underpaid. Few examples are known with CL13 originating from Woman Lake). The last cover is a first flight to Rouyn via Haileybury, originating from Toronto postmarked MAR. 23. 1927, tying a pair of 1c Admirals on the front, with Rouyn duplex postmark, dated AP.1. 1927, tying the CL13 on the back.
