a substantial holding housed in one large volume, many in compete sets incl Malta 1953 to £1 mint and Gibraltar 1960 £1 mint, better defins to £, as well as good S/S as Cyprus Scouts, etc., the stock is overwhelmingly never hinged with plenty of “new issue” cost along with better material and needs a careful viewing.
fascinating stock of over 3,000 imperforates in a well filled volume, the overwhelming majority are used with the typical cut and manuscript cancels; displaying a wide range of shades from the intensity of the various different printings, stones and papers; also a variety of different types and denominations, as well as interesting postmarks including an extraordinary 1 abasi used in Calcutta with circular date stamp alone – and this was discovered among many of the 2 abasi denominations, this represents a tremendous opportunity for the Afghanistan specialist, from early tiger issues onwards that all requires patience and knowledge of this complicated area of philately. It is extremely unusual to find Afghanistan like this in such depth of the imperforates present, offered intact as received, there is a must sell instruction from the beneficiary and a highly recommended viewing.
sorted by Scott numbers in a book full of stamps, with a great deal of better stamps throughout, incl; 1, 3 (thick paper), 8 (4), 12 (4), 89 o.g., 435-45, B514 o.g., B28-30 NH, B30 NH, B558-60 NH (2), J12-16 o.g., Q1-6, Q49, Q51, Q361A o.g., useful accumulation, condition and centering are mixed, overall VG-VF, owners Scott value from several years ago over $5,000+.
Housed partly on quadrille album pages and various other styles and sizes, this is virtually all a 19th century collection of considerable importance. Although somewhat rambling and chaotic in presentation, some of the postmarks noted here include Cochabamba, Oruro, Sucre, Tupiza, Potosi, etc with 100s if not 1000s of examples included colored, triangles in circles, ovals, straight lines, cork segmented, laurels, arrowheads, late usage, large and small grids, starbursts, bisects on cover as well as on piece, etc. Also seen, used postal stationery, 1897 commemoratives on cover commercially used, good stampless pre 1867 etc. Accompanying these are some very good condors with attempted plate reconstructions with for example Scott #1 and #2 with over 100 imperfs in various shades and colors of the 5cts green, then the Scott #3 the 5cts violet and rose lilac, in excess of 140 of these with a Scott of $40,000+, then Scott #4, the 10cts brown in excess of 60 items with a Scott in the order of $25000, the 50cts blue Scott #6 with over 25 examples with a Scott in excess of $10,000, etc. All of this is housed in a well filled old fashioned album with many different pages with varieties, including misspelling of Bolivia, i.e. Boiivia and Bouvia, broken wings, parallel lines, diagonal lines, dashes, to name a few of the varieties from this roaming collection. Much is tucked away, requiring a slow considered viewing to appreciate what is here. As in any collection of classics, there will be reprints, some mentioned in the Scott catalogue and some not. A delightful collection to study and enjoy, not to be missed, an exceptional opportunity.
