German States
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
301 og/O   German States powerful two-volume collection, a collector’s extensive study in two Lindner albums, representing a detailed examination of the stamps of Baden through Wurttemberg, as well as the North German Confederation; the collector made great efforts to acquire better postmarks, and various notations highlight plate flaws and other interesting attributes, enormous catalogue value in the high five figures, if not more, even if one omits the obviously faulty, suspect postmarks, or likely reprints such as Heligoland, typical varied quality as expected in such classic collections, though better than most often seen, mostly fine used, with many nice examples to be found throughout; an impressive collection of this challenging area, replete with opportunities for further research and expansion, or to be broken down for sale.
