102 og C1 image#C1, 1919 "First/Trans-/Atlantic/Air Post/April, 1919." overprint on 3c Red brown, the so-called "Hawker" air post, a desirable mint example of this popular air post rarity, wonderfully well centered, especially when compared to the others, deep rich color and strong overprint, original gum with the initials "J.A.R." of Postmaster General Dr. J.A. Robinson on the gum as always, extremely fine and choice; of the 200 stamps produced, eighteen were damaged or destroyed, 95 were used as flight cover frankings, eleven were given as presentation copies and the remaining 76 sold for the benefit of the Marine Disasters Fund, therefore only 87 mint examples (at most) are available to collectors, and fewer still are found in this premium quality; signed Bolaffi and accompanied by his 1964 certificate as well as a 1958 BPA certificate (Unitrade C$35,000.00). 116 og/nh   Newfoundland and other B.N.A. Colonies balance of the "Fordwater" collection comprised of several hundred virtually all mint singles and a few multiples housed in a Lighthouse hingeless album, principle value lies in the Newfoundland starting with the more common Pence values and continuing with scattered Victoria issue, an 1897 Cabot set and then some of the later pictorial sets, there are also some scattered British Columbia, Prince Edward Is. including mint 1861 2d Deep rose, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, with some varieties and shades included, there are some off center, the occasional small fault and a few with no gum, however the overall quality is excellent with most of the mint o.g. and a great many n.h. to be found throughout; overall a nice clean basis for continuation; three certificates accompany. Est. $750-1,000
