6040 image1881 (July 1): 1 c. vermilion on yellowish, plate I, imperforate, a used example with large margins all round, used on 1883 single rate cover to Boston, USA endorsed "per Steamer for New York", in combination with 1882 3 c. grey-bistre on pale bistre, plate II, first printing, in a horizontal strip of three, all tied by "Port au Prince / Haiti" cds's (Oct 9). Two line "JAMAICA / TRANSIT" in black above and reverse with Kingston, Jamaica cds (Oct 12) and "New York / Paid All" transit (Oct 20). 'Tint plate' can be seen at top and right outer edges of the sheet.
