1859 image1923 (Aug.15): Picture postcard to Germany franked with King Ferdinand 1920/22 1 L. and 3 L. tied by 'PRIMARIA ADA KALA' circular handstamp in violet, an extremely rare handstamp of a small island in the middle of Danube downstream to Orsova. Earliest known card and exceptional postal history item.rnFrom 1804 until 1878 Ada Kale was in Turkish hands.The island was totally forgotten during the peace talks at the Berlin congress in Berlin 1878 and remained 'de jure' Ottoman territory until the Treaty of Lausanne 1923 (April 24) when Turkey ceded the island to Romania.
