RED OVERPRINT: 'V.' on Rouletted 2d bright vermilion, rouletting except where cut from the sheet just clear of the design at the top, fault & 10mm closed scissor-cut into the design both at left, very fine GPO cds of DE30/68. Despite the faults, quite presentable. Rated RRRR. The two unused 'Besancon' examples - both shaved at left; also rated RRRR - sold for SFr556 & SFr1450 (2020) respectively. RED OVERPRINT: 'V.' on Rouletted 6d dull ultramarine, rouletting on all sides, diagonal creases at upper-right & lower-left, light GPO cds of SP14/69. Unrecorded used by Ron Butler and the only recorded example so it should be rated RRRRRR. The mint 'Besancon' example - shaved at the top, rated RRRR - sold for SFr6050.

BLACK OVERPRINT: 'V.' on De La Rue Crown/SA Wmk Rouletted 2d dull orange with the Watermark Reversed, rouletting on all sides, GPO cds of AP26/70. Rated RR+: unrecorded unused by Ron Butler. The unused 'Besancon' example sold for SFr2905.
BLACK OVERPRINT: 'V.' on De La Rue Crown/SA Rouletted 2d deep dull red-orange, tied by GPO cds of JY20/70 to plain cover endorsed "OHMS" & used locally, the address partly erased resulting in a central fault, light overall soiling. The stamp is rated RR. Number 3 in Anthony Presgrave's Census of five 'V.' covers. The two 'Besancon' covers - the first with address similarly defaced - sold for SFr905 & SFr1205 respectively. The long 'Tamiami' cover, with the stamp inverted & the address partly erased, sold for $1377. [Illustrated by Ron Butler at page 148]
The source of the covers with erased addresses is hinted at by the pencil endorsement on the reverse: "Fry Wirrega SA/Jan 1934". Wirrega is a railway stopping place 20km NW of Bordertown.
BLACK OVERPRINT: 'V.' on De La Rue V/Crown Wmk Perf 10 2d dull red-orange, ironed-out minor crease at lower-left otherwise superb, very fine GPO cds of JY11/72. Rated RRR: unrecorded unused. The similar 'Sir Humphrey'/'Tamiami' example sold for $1315.
