1884-85 Surcharges '½' on 1d yellow-ochre SG 89-90a group on exhibit pages with Perf 14 mint x2 & used x3 (one with Double Tail Flaw and '1' in Fraction Misplaced to Right), and Perf 12 mint x12 including a block of 6 (2x3) & used x2, a few overprint varieties. [From 1.2.1884, the newspaper rate was halved from 1d to ½d. Research by Brian Pope ('Philately from Australia' Dec 1992) concluded that Perf 14 stamps comprised about 10% of the 60,000 stamps overprinted. On that basis, SG 89 is grossly underpriced by Gibbons]
