486 c 36,42 image36,42: 2¢ deep green and 5¢ grey, both tied by matching corks to REGISTERED Bank DROP LETTER from/to Toronto 24 AU '92, the stamps pay 2¢ postage (the drop letter rate for cities with free delivery) and 5¢ registration, with various registration numbers and scarce manuscript violet notations at left 'Not at address', Not in directory' and 'Not called for', letter was deemed undeliverable and sent from Toronto 8 SEP to the Dead Letter Office, received 12 SEP and returned to sender 30 SP, colourful and very rare. 493 c 37,41,42 image37,41,42: Two 1¢ yellow plus a 3¢ vermilion, paying the 5¢ UPU rate and tied by Stellarton 31 MY '94 cds cancels to mourning cover to ENGLAND with two different RPO's and St John cds on back. It was found to contain material which REQUIRED REGISTRATION (probably coins or banknotes) and was marked with a manuscript 'short 5¢' at bottom and sent to the DEAD LETTER OFFICE for additional postage, received 3 JU and a 5¢ grey Small Queen was applied and tied by oval 'R' partially overtop of the dispatch cds. The cover was then sent on to it's original destination and was received at Derby as a registered letter on 16 JU, two light filing folds at left do not detract, a very rare rate cover. Ex - Brigham.
