EGYPT STAMPLESS LETTER SHEET from Nakhl in the Sinai Desert to Great Britain. Written Feb. 19, 1849. Nakhl was six days by
camel, north of the Convent of St. Catherine on Mt. Sinai (described in letter). Carried privately, by Sheik, to Cairo,, then entered postal system at British Packet Agency at Alexandria. Postmark March 10, 1849, via Malta and Marseilles. London
arrival postmark March 21, 1849, rated 2/1 with Bristol receival same day. The writer was the son of the Bishop of Bristol and Gloucestar was on a "Grand Tour". Scarce. Photo. Estimated Value $1500 (Image1)
